Dave is a graduate of The Ryerson Theatre School, and has been working in the entertainment industry for over 25 years. He has performed on major North American Stages from coast to coast as well as internationally through Europe and Japan. He has toured with the National Arts Centre, sang operas, cruised oceans, and spent a lovely two years at the Princess of Wales with the original Disney Beauty and the Beast Company in his native Toronto.
Over the last 10 years he has been best known as a live TV choreographer. Credits include Canadian Idol, (six seasons) Radio Free Roscoe, Deal or no Deal, Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader?, the 17th and 18th Gemini Awards and Canada’s Walk of Fame with WWE Star Trish Stratus, and last year with Howie Mandel He appeared for 4 seasons as a regular on YTV's The Next Star. He has worked with Tony Bennet, Lionel Richie, Paul Shaffer, Anne Murray, Martina McBride, Paul Anka, Tom Jones, and yes...Carly Rae Jepson, long before Call Me Maybe.
Last year he was honoured to make his debut on London's West End with the creative team of “A Round Heeled Woman” starring Sharon Gless. (Cagney and Lacey, Queer as Folk, Burn Notice).
For Theatre, he has directed, among others, Henry and Alice, Into the Wild, Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks, Murder in Noirville, Sexy Laundry, Married Alive, Thumbs, Forever Plaid, Cats, Pump Boys and Dinettes, The Buddy Holly Story, Jesus Christ Superstar, Suds!, Kiss Me Kate and More.
US credits include direction of 42nd Street, The All Night Strut, On The Town, The Andrew’s Brothers, The World Goes Round, and the choreography of My Fair Lady, Working, cult classics Reefer Madness, and Grey Gardens, as well as the premiere of Bombshells the Musical at Actor’s Playhouse.
In Florida he has been nominated for a Broadway World - Best Choreographer Award, coming in just behind Broadway's Marcia Milgrom Dodge. He is also one of the nominees for a 2012 Carbonell award for best choregraphy on The All Night Strut, a show which he also directed.
This is his 4rd season as Artistic Director, and co-founder of the 17 week summer season of the LaughOutLoud Theatre Festival at the Orillia Opera House just north of Toronto, which tours productions to Gravenhurst, Collingwood, and Stirling.
This is a very exciting year for Dave as he has just been named director for the Toronto Revival of Cats! which will open at the Panasonic Theatre in Downtown Toronto in May of 2013.
In 2006 Dave was nominated for The Governor General’s Award for potential of excellence in direction.
